Temporary tablescape for The Turning of a Century Exhibition

Ariana Franco creates sculptural installations from found objects and materials that explore relationships between people and how materialism shapes identities. One side of the table represents the past, the 1925 land boom in Miami, when maximalism, color, and the life of the city brought hope and expansion. Opposite that is a conceptual representation of current distress, displacement, and neglect, conveyed by objects painted white, stripping away the vitality and textures that make them special.

Between the two sides, a table runner made from reproduced archival documents on paper offers a historical account of 1352 SW 14th Street, what was and what isn’t anymore.
